Is Your Child Sitting the Brighton College 16+ Exams?
Brighton College is a highly popular choice at 16+ for both home and international students. The Autumn based examinations include a Verbal Reasoning paper (45 mins), a Maths Paper (45 mins) and the much-anticipated General Paper (90 mins).
The General Paper in particular, includes some unknown elements and Brighton College does not release any past papers. So how to know what is in these papers? Simple. Speak to somebody who has sat them!
I have prepared home and international students extensively for the Brighton Paper, which each year comes out as one of the top choices for students at 6th form. I have had many successful students for Brighton college and importantly, had the opportunity to interview my students afterwards, about their exam experiences.
Our rigorous preparation has meant that students have passed the exams confidently – some on double scholarships – but the opportunity to speak in detail to students about their examination experiences has meant a continual refining of the Brighton 16+ preparation process at Ivy Tutors over the years.
At both 13+ and 16+, Brighton college exams value independent thinking and core academic skills and competency. This is further investigated at interview and also measured against the student’s grade predictions.
The interview process is not irrelevant here – whilst some schools measure most of the student’s aptitude within the actual entrance exam papers and more or less confirm this at interview, Brighton College tends to do a considerable assessment at interview as well, which may include academic questions.
In 2023 Brighton College changed its 16+ exam format to the new one above, and I have acquired an in depth knowledge and understanding of all three papers, as well as the kind of questions, knowledge and thinking skills required for the 16+ General Paper – which is quite unique to Brighton College.
I offer in depth, targeted and personally tailored Brighton College 16+ entrance exam preparation, particularly focusing on filling in the science and data analytical style knowledge for humanities strong students and the writing skills for more maths and logic based students.
Either way, at Ivy Tutoring, students’ strengths and areas for improvement, are measured and tracked against the Brighton College entrance exam requirements in order to maximize their chances of succeeding in the exams.
Good luck with your child’s preparation for Brighton College!
